💸 Sliding-Scale & Accessible Pricing
Justice should never be out of reach.
Iowa River Legal is committed to providing quality legal services for every Iowan — regardless of income.
For clients who qualify based on household income, we offer reduced flat-fee rates using the Federal Poverty Guidelines as a baseline.
How It Works
Eligibility is based on household income compared to the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) published annually by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
You’ll provide a brief income summary during intake — no intrusive documentation required for most matters.
Once eligibility is confirmed, your flat fee is automatically reduced according to the schedule below.
Sliding-Scale Fee Tiers
Example:
If the standard flat fee for a simple will is $250:
A client at 150% of the FPL would pay $125
A client at 200% of the FPL would pay $190
Why We Do It
Many rural Iowans fall into the “justice gap” — they earn too much to qualify for legal aid, but can’t afford traditional rates.
By aligning our fees with federal poverty data, we make legal services attainable for hardworking families, retirees, and small-town residents across Hardin County and beyond.
